Dot Foster is a filmmaker, playwright and poet based in London and Berlin. She graduated from the University of Oxford in 2023 with a first-class BA in English Language and Literature. She is the recipient of an Examination Prize (2023) and an Undergraduate Exhibition from Wadham College (2022-2023). A theatre maker and performer from an early age, Dot’s recent work experiments with ‘film-poetry’, short, lyrical films that combine contemporary dance practices, spoken word and visual languages of domestic space and the natural world. Her first short film, 'Mad River' (starring Peter Coyote) blends the distinctions between fiction and documentary through an evolving, community-based film practice, and is set for completion in October 2025.
Her play, ‘Sisyphus’ won Best Short Play at the Oxford New Writing Festival 2020.
Her poetry has been published in RISE, Oxford Public Philosophy Journal, Free Verse Magazine, Poetry in Practice, and The Oxford Blue’s ‘Creativity in Crisis’ writing collective.
